What makes a fabric ecological?
All human activities leave an imprint on the planet, and dressing is not an exception. Our society produces, consumes and discards daily tons of garments, and humanity confronts itself to the challenge of making the textile industry in a sustainable activity, friendly to the planet.
That is why we support the use of ecological or sustainable fibres, as well as a responsible and rational use.
In order to certify a fabric as ecological, the production process must generate the minimum environmental impact possible.
It must use in a rational way all necessary natural resources, use the minimum of energy and water, maintain the natural characteristics of the raw materials, reduce all chemical processes and use physical or mechanical processes and use biodegradable elements which don’t impact the health of workers and users.
Every time we use ecological fibres we benefit the ecosystem, our health and society.
In our collections you may find the following fibres:

Organic cotton

This cotton (not genetically modified) grows naturally without artificial pesticides or fertilizers, and processed without using toxic chemicals, which means it has a less negative ecological impact on the planet and workers’ heath, and preserved the land for future uses.
Estimates say that conventional cotton crops use around 20% of all the pesticides and insecticides used in the whole world, and is bleached with damaging components before being dyed with highly polluting products; all of them stay in the fabrics we later wear.
Conventional genetically-modified cotton generates poverty, as farmers end being hostages of the seed and pesticide vendors, who set the prices, not counting the awful working conditions of the harvesters, many of them kids and teenagers.

You will feel the difference…

Hemp

Along with the nettle, it is the most ecological fibre available. It is a plant that grows naturally just with rainwater. Because of its toughness, it does not fall victim of plagues, so it does not need pesticides or insecticides; a chemical-free fiber that does not pollutes the soil.It is very durable due to its resistance and has great absorbing properties, it dries quickly, does not shrink when in contact with hot water and blocks almost 95% of UV and UVB radiation, so it does not fade with sunlight.Antibacterial, mold-resistant and, as it happens with bamboo, is a great thermo-regulator – suitable both for winter and summer.

Vegetal versatility.

Bamboo

Bamboo, an extra soft fibre with a delicate satin finish, is a ultra high speed growing plant, which needs just rain water, that means no additional irrigation, and highly resistant to plagues and fungi, so it doesn’t need insecticides or pesticides.

It has antibacterial and fungicidal characteristics so, apart from being respectful with our skin, it stays much longer without odours. It is a natural thermo-regulator and its internal structure facilitates transpiration and gives a fresh sensation when wearing it.

Close your eyes and touch it..

Milk fibre

It is an innovative and healthy fibre derived from organic milk, from which casein – it’s main protein – is extracted to produce fabrics with a gloss and touch similar to silk.

It has antibacterial and high humidity absorption capability, so it allows respiration of the skin. It generates negative ions which improve air quality and stimulate blood circulation

Incredible, isn’t it?

Ecological wool

Of very high quality, woven respecting the environment and animals, with total traceability from the animal to the fabric.
Organic wool comes from animals not treated with hormones, steroids, antibiotics, vaccines, etc. and whose food is free of pesticides, insecticides and chemical additives.
Moreover, the processing, spinning and weaving process is free of hazardous chemical products and uses a minimum of energy, producing reduced CO2 emissions.

The sustainable excellence.

Ecological Silk

As with other materials, no harmful chemicals – either to the health or the environment – are used in the production process. Moreover, the silk is extracted only from discarded cocoons, so the life of the animals is preserved.

All the shine, smoothness and warmth of silk, but respectful and kind.

origin

We started this adventure in 2013, with the dream and firm intention of creating ecological and modern fashion. Sometimes life makes an unexpected turn, and from one of these turns our project is born. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . At a point in her life, the founder of the brand took notice of all what is behind a garment and bet on doing things in a different way, so Lifegist stems from a dream, from the desire to create and build thinking about the common welfare. Beauty and responsibility not only can, but must, go hand in hand, and this is our intention: to create garments with a big part of their design based on details and, at the same time, invest our effort in respecting the environment and the people. We started our way working hard, learning every day, making good friends in the process and putting a lot of love in everything we do. We want you to take part of this, to share everything that is happening to us, all what we are enjoying, the satisfaction it gives what we are doing. We are aware that by giving and sharing we can be much happier than with just receiving.

the further we advance, so we show who we really are…

the real luxury is to believe in what you wear

We believe in a change, we create this change

sustainability

We care about both the visible and invisible things. In Lifegist we take care of every detail, tend the design to the maximum and comply with all the elements that make it possible, that a garment becomes a reality, beautiful in the inside and the outside.

Good design, ecological materials, low production numbers, local manufacturers and social responsibility are the core values of our brand working process. The ateliers where all the processes are done – design and pattern designing, dressmaking – are located in Spain, near Madrid and Seville, minimising the transport of the raw materials and guaranteeing the Corporate Social Responsibility. All our fabric’s suppliers are experienced European companies – German, Italian, Netherlanders – whose target is to create collections of ecological fabrics and use manufacturing processes fully environment-aware and with quality certifications such as GOTS(Global Organic Textile Standard) , currently the strictest in the market.

collaborations

We are aware that we can be much happier giving and receiving than just receiving, therefore, since the beginning of the project, we collaborate with the “Fundación Española contra la Esclerosis Múltiple” (Spanish Foundation Against the Multiple Sclerosis).

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

We donate part of our benefits, and they show us the importance of living the present…

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Multiple Sclerosis is an autoimmune disease, which usually appears at the age of 20 to 40 years, and much more frequently in women.
Women who inspire us for their strength and their will to live, for them to walk 10 meters is a huge triumph…
Overcome your problems every day, carry on, live the moment, connect with the present, value the authenticity, nearness, what is tangible and what is not, adapt to every instant, fight… connect to what is essential in life.

This is their way of living in this world, and this is the way in which we want to be ourselves.
